About ELECTROMAGNETIC YOKE AC/DC
The light weight AC/DC Electromagnetic Yoke is the ideal tool for detection of surface or Sub-surface crocks and flows in any ferromagnetic material. No other low cost, portable equipment offers such versatility Magnetic Particle Inspection. Fast and simple to operate, it is widely used with either dry or wet method fluorescent or non-fluorescent Magnetic powders, in the testing of welds, automotive or railroad components, machine ports, steel and grey iron castings, forgings and in plant inspection, maintenance and repair. A.C. Magnetisation: It creates a surface field which only detects surface cracks. Particularly useful for inspecting thick and irregular sections for surface defects such as fatigue cracks. Best results obtained with dry method. D.C. (Pulsed) Magnetisation: Use of Half wave D.c. magnetization creates pulsing magnetic fields which penetrates the work piece and detects surface and subsurface (slightly) cracks. Pulsing improves particle mobility and sensitivity. Can be used for dry and even wet method Specifications: AC/HWDC Electromagnetic Yoke Mostly used to test the welds, seams etc Common applications include welding, casting, Forged parts, pipes, and any other random inspections. Suitable for Dry and wet method Other Details: Warning before operation see the operation Manual
- Choice of constant level AC or variable intensity, pulsed H.W.D.C. for surface or sub-surface flaw detestability. Solid state circuit for infinitely variable (step less),
- Potentiometric adjustment of DC magnetic field. Articulated legs to suit differing component contours. Interpole distance adjustable from 0 to 300 mm
- Low power consumption. Current draw at 220V, 1 Phase supply - only 2 amps. Extremely strong and intense magnetic field for superior sensitivity. Portable & light weight - only 3.5 Kgs

Advanced NDT Flaw DetectionThis electromagnetic yoke is meticulously crafted for non-destructive testing applications, enabling precise detection of flaws in ferromagnetic materials. Thanks to adjustable pole distances (up to 300 mm) and interchangeable pole pieces, it provides versatility for varied material sizes and geometries, maximizing detection reliability in industrial environments.
Dual Magnetization Modes for Enhanced SensitivitySwitch between AC and DC magnetization modes to suit your inspection requirements. AC mode is perfect for surface crack detection, while DC mode extends the inspection depth for subsurface flaws. This dual capability ensures thorough evaluation of components, helping prevent potential structural failures.
User-Centered, Rugged DesignFeaturing an ergonomic, insulated handle and lightweight body (approx. 3 kg), the yoke ensures operator safety and minimizes fatigue during prolonged use. Its IP54-rated enclosure and air-cooled system reinforce durability, making it effective in harsh or rough industrial settings.
FAQ's of ELECTROMAGNETIC YOKE AC/DC:
Q: How does the ergonomic insulated handle improve operator safety?
A: The handle is designed with insulation to protect the operator from electrical hazards during both AC and DC operation, significantly reducing the risk of accidental shocks and facilitating comfortable handling over long inspection periods.
Q: What types of cracks can this electromagnetic yoke detect?
A: This yoke can identify both surface and subsurface cracks in ferromagnetic materials using magnetic particle inspection. AC mode is typically used for surface defects, while DC mode penetrates deeper to locate subsurface flaws.
Q: When should you use AC versus DC magnetization?
A: AC magnetization is ideal for surface crack detection owing to its shallow penetration, while DC magnetization is best for discovering deeper, subsurface defects. Select the appropriate mode based on the inspection depth required for your application.
Q: Where is this yoke typically used?
A: It is widely used in industrial settings-such as steel fabrication, automotive, aviation maintenance, and manufacturing plants-where non-destructive testing (NDT) of ferromagnetic components is vital for safety and quality assurance.
Q: What process does the yoke use for flaw detection?
A: The yoke generates a strong electromagnetic field across its adjustable poles. When magnetic particles are applied to the test surface, any cracks disrupt the magnetic field, causing particles to gather at defect sites, making flaws visible to the inspector.
Q: How does IP54 protection benefit the device during field use?
A: The IP54 rating ensures the device is resistant to dust ingress and water splashes, enabling reliable operation even in harsh or outdoor environments often encountered in industrial sectors.
Q: What are the main benefits of this electromagnetic yoke?
A: It offers reliable flaw detection, portability, robust safety features, easy operation, and compliance with ASTM E1444/E709 and IS 6410 standards. These features ensure high inspection accuracy, minimal downtime, and enhanced workplace safety.
